Chef Micky’s Thai Dining

I’m Nick Hamman from Hammy Eats and I’m looking for the best Thai food in South Africa and today I’m at one of the countries most celebrated eateries for authentic Thai cuisine, Chef Mickeys in Johannesburg. Situated at 102 Corlett Drive the spot offer a cozy, homely atmosphere, with options for both standard dining and private/home experiences prepared on-site by Chef Micky. Feeling too lazy to dress up though, my wife and I decided to take this award winning food home to try instead.

Sharing two orders we had tender chicken stir-fried with roasted cashew nuts, crunchy vegetables, and a rich, savoury Thai sauce, served over perfectly steamed jasmine rice. It’s a comforting, nutty, slightly sweet dish with a satisfying crunch and deep umami flavour and one of my favourite soups in the world, Tom Yum Goong a fiery, aromatic Thai soup made with fresh prawns, lemongrass, lime leaves, galangal, and chili, delivering a sharp balance of spicy, sour, and salty. The prawns soak up the broth’s intense flavour, making each spoonful bold, warming, and unmistakably Thai.
