Sadie's Bistro
69 Main St Marshalltown
I’m Nick Hamman and today I want to show you a stylish Bistro in the Johannesburg CBD that you might never had heard of, but certainly need to try, in a part of the city called Marshalltown, where some of the earliest developments took place, leaving surroundings of beautiful old buildings. Sadie’s is a tribute to owner chef Julian’s grandmother, a South African of Lebanese extraction known for being a larger-than-life entertainer and lover of great food. Coming here recently with my wife for a lazy lunch we started off with some deeply refreshing, ice-cold, freshly squeezed smoothies, a sweet mango and healthy green juice were out juices, before tucking into this halloumi and avocado salad with home-made pesto and a subtle, slightly tangy dressing.
For our mains, Sarah went for the chicken schnitzel. Tender chicken with a crispy golden battered coating and my choice, Ragù, a rich Italian meat‑based sauce, typically made by slowly simmering minced beef, sautéed vegetables, tomatoes, wine, and herbs
I would highly recommend checking out Sadie’s for yourself and have left the details on hammyeats.co.za a website I built to help South Africans find the countrie’s best food.
Make sure to keep following me for more epic adventures.
