Tobs Wraps

I’m Nick Hamman from Hammy Eats and today we’re in Vosloorus, about 30 kilometres southeast of Johannesburg, to meet an inspirational powerhouse of a woman, Thobile Sibeko, who’s on a mission to bring wraps to her neighbourhood with her amazing business, Tobs Wraps.

In 2019, Thobile left her corporate job to follow her passion. She didn’t know a global pandemic was around the corner, but when resources became scarce, she realised all she needed to make wraps was flour, water and oil, and that’s where her idea was born.

She eventually found this space, which had sadly been overrun by local nyaope addicts. At first the community wanted to burn it down, but Thobile convinced them to build instead of destroy. Together they transformed it into the vibrant spot you see today.

Her spirit of innovation also inspired Skaftin Bootcamp, where she teaches local moms how to make wraps as a quick and affordable food option.

If you visit Tobs Wraps or order on Mr D, you can try their meaty platter featuring wraps stuffed with smoked chicken, boerewors, bacon, Russian, boneless ribs and smash patties. The meat comes from her trusted local butcher, the toasted wraps are perfectly crunchy, and her homemade sauces give every bite a distinct flavour that will have you craving more.
