I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best Chicken Tikka in South Africa and today this fiery, red bad boy you see before you, which goes for R60 together with chips and salad can be found at Lala’s Resturant And Take Aways in Korsten Gqeberha. Once the site of th one of the largest forced removals in Port Elizabeth in the 1950s, Korsten is a multi-cultural suburb with a noticeable Islamic influence. Being there on a Friday, I was joined by members of the muslim community returning from the Masjid for lunch after prayers. Marinated in yoghurt and spices like garlic gingerm, turmeric and garam masala this meal was incredibly delicious. Going for hot, I found it to be more flavourful than spicy, but I did still get some decent sweat on the back of my head.
