I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best Fish and Chips in South Africa and today your comments have sent me to the seaside suburb of Hout Bay with its bustling fishing port on a cold and rainy day in Cape Town, South Africa. Heading out in my jeep hooked up by Luxury Link, my wife and I came to a place that for over 3 decades has been serving up great seafood to countless locals and tourists alike, Fish on the Rocks. Going for a classic deep fried hake and chips together with plenty of salt, vinegar and tomato sauce, we had our meal served in a packet which resembled the old school way it’s been served for generations. The hake was golden, crispy on the outside and buttery-soft on the inside, with that clean, delicate flavour that only comes from super fresh fish. This is a great spot and I can tell why it frequently makes so many lists as a top spot in town, but if this is not the best fish and chips in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?
