I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best roadhouse in South Africa, and today your comments have sent me to Cape Town, to an absolute institution of the Cape Town Food Scene, Wembley Roadhouse in the heart of Athlone on Belgravia Road, more than just a popular eatery—it’s a cornerstone of Cape Town’s cultural and culinary heritage.

Its story begins in 1910, when Mohammed Eshack Gangraker immigrated from Morba, India, to Cape Town. Over time, his entrepreneurial spirit laid the foundation for what would become the Wembley Group of Companies.
The Roadhouse itself was established in 1975 by Abdullah and among its classics it offers I had to go for the Wembley Whopper. A Sesame bun, lettuce, onion, cucumber, potato, tomato and Masala Steak
