Snoekies

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best fish and chips in South Africa and today your comments have sent me to Snoekies, to one of their many branches, this one being in seapoint.
The story here goes back to 1951 when an old converted bus started serving local fisherman on the waters edge in houtbay where there is still a location today. As I’m sure you’ve noticed, I don’t often do franchised businesses. Nothing against them, it’s just that I far prefer plugging you guys on community favourites, small businesses and even though we all hate the term, hidden gems.
But to me, Snoekies gets a pass. The fish tastes the same today as it did when I was growing up. Crispy batter, slap chips, fresh fish and everything I was after. This meal was R110 for a single fillet and chips and I’ve left the details in the caption, but if this is not the best dish and chips in South Africa you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?
