Kalky’s
Harbour Cape Town City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality
I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best fish and chips in South Africa and today your comments have sent me together with my wife to an institution that’s been perfecting the art of frying fish since they first opened their doors in 1996. With its story collecting many colourful characters over the years it was the Rosslind family and later George Mandalios who ran this tight ship. Here the Hake and Chips goes for R115. Make sure you bring cash, place your order and wait for it to be called out by your waiter while you sit and watch the boats and fisherman come in and out the harbour of this coastal town. Growing up in Cape Town meant catching the train to surf in Muizenberg, before hoping back on and riding the false bay line to come here, so of course, I already know its good. Battered deep-fried hake, chips honored with compliments of salt, vinegar and bright-red, finger staining tomato sauce, order this and get ready for satisfaction. I would highly recommend trying out Kalkys for yourself and have left the details in the caption, but if this is not the best fish and chips in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?
Address: Kalk Bay Harbour, Main Street, Kalk Bay, Cape Town
