I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best Chinese food in South Africa and as big as you guys have helped this channel to get, allowing me fancy cameras, shows and shoots, my favorite thing remains taking a risk on a place I’ve never heard of because sometimes, as was the case here at Empire Asian Restaurant that I find the most incredible meals. The first tip I can give you when visiting a Chinese restaurant is to ask if they have a Chinese menu, this is often where you’ll find more authentic, less westernized dishes. Bringing a friend who can help you navigate this, or using google lens is a great way to get into this. As a double disclaimer, I ate steamed lobster here, which you get to select yourself which perhaps some people might find unsuaul or uncomfortable, which personally if you’re a meat eater I don’t understand and secondly, this item is SQ and can be very expensive, so please take caution if you’re considering ordering it. This spot makes a fantastic cucumber salad, a genius culinary invention, taking your tastebuds through a tightrope of fiery, spicy, cooling and refreshing. Then, my treat, Cantonese style gently steamed lobster. Sweet, tender, slightly bouncy. Topped with minced garlic, a light soy based seasoning and green onions for freshness. Its delicious, but its expensive, be careful. Then, spicy pork tongue, thinly sliced tender braised tongue with garlic, coriander and chilli oil.
