Toni's on Kloof
88 Kloof St Tamboerskloof
I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best Portuguese restaurant in South Africa and after millions of views and thousands of comments from our last post we now find ourselves in Cape Town, at an institution of note, Toni’s on Kloof.
This is an long-standing cult favorite with over 25 years of history run unsurprisingly by Toni, of Portuguese and Mozambique history. For all the cards in the comments who enjoy pointing out that traditional Portuguese foods differs from how its prepared in other territories, who somehow think they are the only ones with this knowledge, yes much of what’s on offer here is Portuguese Mozambican food. Think: peri-peri chicken, prawns. Peri Peri, garlic, saucy, delicious, but Toni is also known for having some truly authentic Portuguese dishes on the menu, the kind of stuff you probably won’t find at many other spots around town,
which you can and should watch us preparing and eating on the Full Episode of Hammy Eats out now. If you want to put Toni’s to the test for yourself, to see if it deserves a spot on our list go onto Mr D and use the promo code Hammy30 for R30 off your order, but if this is still not the best Portuguese restaurant in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next!
