I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best pie in South Africa and today I’m in Cape Town at a Baker Bros to meet Iain David Spacey the co-owner who through a life of adventures and food, found himself in Helderkruin where a 100 year old recipe that he’s now keeping alive was passed on to him by Tannie Ella Barnard. Acquiring this spot in Dieprivier he realised the needs of the community with a strong coloured and Muslim influence, the menu here draws on influences from all this worlds. Made fresh and hot daily , I’d recommend their masala steak pie which to me was life changingly good and I would recommend you on Mr D and order now for yourself. They have that homemade, hearty, spicy, filled with love flair, but if this is not the best pie in south Africa, I need you to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?
