Po'Boys Durban

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best steak sandwich in South Africa, and I might have just found it, here at Po’Boys in Durban.
As relatively new kids on the block, this spot is the brain-child of food entrepreneur Bilal Salot, and it’s been operating since early 2021. They currently have a store at 123 Problem Mkhize Rd, Essenwood/Berea, Durban, Kwa-Zulu-Natal 4001. Serving up American-style sandwiches and pizza, I had to get myself a large “Durban Cheesesteak” (currently priced at R159). This sexy badboy consists of steak, cheese, chips, caramelised onions and peppers with homemade spicy BBQ sauce and a whip, all stuffed into a fully-toasted buttered baguette.

If my unruly facial expressions aren’t enough indication, let me just reassure you: this is messy, indulgent, delicious perfection. I would highly recommend trying out Po’Boys for yourself — and if this isn’t the best steak sandwich in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next.
