Blos Café – Possibly the Best Breakfast in South Africa?
I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best breakfast in South Africa — and I may have just found it, here at Blos Café in Pretoria.
On the eastern side of our country’s administrative capital, this spot has been going strong for the last 15 years and can host over 400 people.
Wanting something soothing after my wife and I enjoyed a big night the evening before, this place was ideal — an escape from the city, with seriously good food.
The bistro-style menu was comprehensive, but I can certainly vouch for what we both shared:
The chicken livers — done either peri-peri or Cape Malay-style (we ordered the Cape Malay) — were served on toasted ciabatta with three rashers of bacon and two fried eggs for R115.00.
The spicy mango and egg skillet saw three poached eggs baked in a spicy mango sauce, served with crispy bacon and toasted peppadew and feta sourdough for R125.00.
I would highly recommend checking out Blos Café for yourself. If it’s not the best breakfast in South Africa, let me know in the comments where I’m going next!
