Daadi's Kitchen

Unit no 4 Dawn heights 53

I'm Nick Hamman, and I think I might have found the best Pakastani food in South Africa. Here at Daadi is Kitchen in the bustling food street of Grant Avenue Norwood.

Daadi, means grandma in Urdu, which is the spoken language of the owners

The chef here has over 25 years of experience, with many of the spices being imported to get the tastes right.
The food is prepared to order and not in bulk, but the whole menu is available every day

To kick things off, I had to try one of Daadi's specials
Mutton Karhai, referring to the wok as apposed to pot in which it's cooked and, in this case, presented
It's a sinple dish. The main ingredients include whole dry coriander, tomatoes, and black pepper.

Of course, I had to try the chicken Biryani.
One of their best sellers, with basmati rice done in Pakistani style. A layered one pot dish, cooked with steam for 45 minutes. . The biryani is R89.99

Then, straight from the braai, chicken tikka. A classic. The marination is Pakistani. They make it fresh for R79.99 served with Tamarind sauce and Chutney.

And finally, to round it off for something sweet
Gulab Jamun. It's a classic dessert made of fried cardomon-scented donuts dipped in rose water for R49.99
And of course, lassi, which they offer salty or sweet for R39.99

I'd highly recommend checking out Daadi's kitchen for yourself and have left the details in the caption, but if it's not the best Pakistani food in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I'm going next
