Vaagh Strubens Valley
Strubens Valley Roodepoort City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality
I’m Nick Hamman and I think I might have just found the best authentic Durban Food in Johannesburg in this unassuming strip mall in Strubens Valley at Vaagh, run by South African entrepreneur Aladia Moodley
With everything beautifully presented, I started with The samosas which go for R60 for 6 and come in a variety of cheese and corn, spicy potato, chicken, spicy beef and spicy pilchard The Masala Chops were R160 which were done perfect to my request of medium, soft and tender, served with masala chips and a fresh mint dip
Bringing the flavours of Durban proudly to the city of gold, the Bunny Chow tastes like what you’d expect when back along the KZN coastlines.
Aladia has big plans for her business, bringing in the expertise of experienced recipe developer Chef Storm from Cape Town as she prepares to open a second store in Sandton. She’s a lively, energetic woman with managerial experience who launched the restaurant after starting by selling food from her home. I’d highly recommend paying Vaagh a visit and trying out some of this delicious food for yourself.
