I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best traditional South African food — and in truth, many of the best kitchens in Mzansi are found inside people’s homes. #beef #meat #hiddengem #mogodu #chicken #chilli #salsa #spicy #delicious #food #homebusiness #homecooking
Here on the East Bank of the township of Alex in Gauteng is where you’ll find Something Soul Kitchen, run by proud entrepreneurial woman Cathy Ndaba. Assisted by her son Kamoghelo, Cathy got her big break after a market day at her previous job saw her making this salsa, which quickly became a crowd favourite, sparking the idea that maybe she should follow her passion.

Doing just that, she took the plunge — and from her home kitchen now has a menu offering all the classics you’d expect, with today’s offering of mogodu, cow heels, chicken feet, samp, livers, beef, samp chakalaka, and salsa going for R85.

The menu changes daily and is posted on their Facebook page and WhatsApp. It’s my hope that through continued hard work, persistence, and delicious food, this business will continue to thrive. I highly recommend checking out Something Soul Kitchen for yourself — I’ve left their details in the caption. But if this isn’t the best place to get traditional South African food, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next. #beef #meat #hiddengem #mogodu #chicken #chilli #salsa #spicy #delicious #food #homebusiness #homecooking
