I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best chicken tikka in South Africa and I might have just found it, here at Khan Tandoori in Erasmia Gauteng. Run together by a tight family of strong brothers, this is the legacy of the late Badshah Khan who founded the business in 2009. Still going strong today, this place does proper, authentic Pakistani food. Pakistani food is a vibrant tapestry of history and flavour, where ancient Mughal, Persian, and Central Asian influences meet the smoky grills of street kebabs, the slow-simmered spice of biryanis, and the buttery warmth of naan to create a cuisine as rich, layered, and delicious as the culture itself. Here, than more than know what they’re doing with plenty of dishes that can be heard to find anywhere else. Make no mistake this food has its own independent identity, distinctive from its neighbours and its well worth your pallets perusing. When you come here I recommend you try the chicken masala boti, tender cubes of chicken marinated in yogurt and a blend of fragrant spices, then chargrilled to smoky perfection. The food revolution that is the naanwhich, kebab wrapped in buttery fluffy naan, chicken tikka breast, and honestly guys this wonderful, wonderful chilli, cheese, garlic naan. If you come and eat here, ask the owners to recommend dishes and they might even help show you how to do things like a proper Pakistani. To add to your list of must haves, go for the chops, try a baby chicken with the chicken chooza platter, proper afghani pilau, Creamy Chicken Kharai and brain, yes brain masala which I believe is going to make me possibly smarter but certainly satisfied.
