I’m Nick Hamman and if you want to smash your face into this beefy, barbeque, bacon and cheese filled waffle burger, made by a 22 year old entrepreneur from Alex Township proudly saying with her chest she is building the biggest township brand in South Africa then you need to come to Lumos Café to meet Lebone . Even though whats she’s saying is a bold claim, I quite frankly believe her. Growing up in Alex, staring onto the richest square mile in Africa, it was a head full of dreams and a heart full of courage that led her to open this spot. Raised by her mother, together with her little brother and the support of their grandfather it was in his family home that she eventually decided to start running her businesses.

Realizing a gap in the market, Lebone wanted to bring a space to Alex where people could come for milkshakes, waffles, iced-coffee and other things not centered around alcohol, something in seriously short supply. With hard work and determination she has been building her business and brand brick by brick, in spite of the many setbacks that stand in her way, a tale unfortunately all to familiar to so many young entrepreneurs

Despite this, she’s pushed through and it’s a damn good thing too. Her food is delicious. Its messy, and indulgent in all the right ways, its flavorful, fun and stacked. With exceptional value for money the bbq beef waffle burger goes for R75, its chicken equivalent is R67 and the milkshake will set you back R38

Her next dream is to buy a coffee machine to expand her offering and its my hope that through this video, her community will grow and she’s continuing to grow from strength to strength as an example of Alex excellence
