nspired by a journey through Vietnam, Saigon Suzy was created to bring the vibrant energy of Vietnamese street food culture to Johannesburg’s restaurant scene. But this isn’t strictly traditional Vietnamese cuisine, it’s a fusion of Vietnamese flavours, Asian street food influences and modern Joburg dining culture.

Nick chats to owner Bruce, who shares the story behind the restaurant, from travelling through Vietnam on a motorbike to building one of Johannesburg’s most unique Asian-inspired dining experiences. The result? A lively restaurant combining Vietnamese street food flavours, sushi, cocktails, bar culture and even karaoke nights. Like many traditional Vietnamese street food meals, the dishes are
designed to be shared and enjoyed communally, with different bowls, plates and textures coming together in one big flavour-packed experience.
Nick also explores:
• The story behind Saigon Suzy’s rise in Johannesburg
• How Vietnamese flavours were adapted for South African diners
• The growing food culture in Fourways and northern Johannesburg
From fragrant noodle bowls and caramelised pork belly to crispy street food snacks and bold Asian flavours, this episode explores how global food inspiration meets the Johannesburg dining scene. #MrDxHammyEats #NickHamman #SaigonSuzy #JohannesburgEats #JoburgFood #FourwaysRestaurants #VietnameseFood #VietnameseStreetFood #AsianFusion #AsianFoodSA #JohannesburgRestaurants #StreetFoodSA #SouthAfricanFood #FoodReviewSA #JoburgDining #AsianCuisine #FusionFood #RestaurantReview #FoodieSA #HammyEats
