I’m Nick Hamman and, I’m looking for the best pie in South Africa and today I’m out in the winelands of Robertson in the Western Cape to one of 14 OuMuels scattered around the western and eastern cape. Boasting family at the heart of what they do, this is an elevated padstal offering a deli of locally sourced products, meals to sit down or grab and go and freshly baked artisanal good, including what I was here for… pies! Coming in varieties including chicken, venison, babotie, mutton and the pepper steak pie you soon before you. Stuffed full with a generous amount of hearty, tender steak in rich peppery gravy, encased in a pillowy pastry with golden, crusty, flaky hat, I would highly recommend trying out OuMuel for yourself, but if this is not the best pie in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?
