If you're looking for authentic and delicious Mozambican food in South Africa, you need to come to Moza's in Norwood, Johannesburg. As someone who's had the privilege of visiting Mozambique, to me their food is among the best in the world, and I've got to say that here they're doing it just like you'll find it across the border. With a wide variety of options on the menu, one of the characteristic differences is that their chicken is chargrilled, giving it a bold, smoky flavor. Mozambican food is a vibrant fusion of Portuguese, African, and Indian influences, with dishes like peri-peri chicken, from the famous African bird's eye chili, spicy grilled prawns, fresh seafood, and aromatic spices. The food at Moza's reminded me of being back on the white sandy beaches against the backdrop of the ocean, with the air filled by the smell of food cooking outside on an open fire. To me, the pricing was reasonable, with a quarter chicken, six prawns, chips, and a roll going for R189. Classics…

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best fish and chips in South Africa and today I’m in Gauteng at Fish Hook in Darrenwood, waiting for the coastal comments about how jozi has no business selling fish. Despite that, Fish Hook has been a firm favorite for decades and is frequently mentioned on lists of must try spots. It’s a small humble space, tucked underneath a block of flats, with an unmistakable charm that many of this kind of places tend to have. Going for the medium hake and chips for just under R100 I’ve got to say I thought the value for money was great. This hearty portion of battered deep-fried hake, together with slap chips came with salt and vinegar. I would recommend giving Fish Hook a try for yourself and have left the details in the caption, but if this is not the best fish and chips in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comments where I’m going next?

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best breakfast in Soweto and I may have just found it, here at Sleez Oceanic in the suburb of Mofolo, but to explain to you why eating this meal almost brought me to tears, I need to wind back the hands of time by about a year when I got a DM from Slee inviting me to come and try her seafood boil. Always eager to support local business, I made the trip out to find a young, entrepreneurial woman, working tirelessly out of her aunt’s home to create delicious seafood in a part of the world where it wasn’t common. One of the biggest takeaways from my visit was Slee telling me of her dreams to open her own spot one day. After my visit, the video went viral and you guys did what you do best, supporting the business in serious numbers. This led to a journey which comes full circle today as Slee has expanded not only her menu, including the famous seafood, pastas and a delicious breakfast menu, but also her spot, opening this beautiful restaurant…
