I’m Nick Hamman, and today I’m back in one of my favourite parts of the world — Fordsburg, Johannesburg — in search of delicious food.

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m looking for the best samosas in South Africa and today your comments have sent me to the famous World of Samoosas in The Oriental Plaza in Fordsburg. The classic triangular pastry filled with savoury ingredients like minced meat or chicken spiced potatoes, corn and cheese and fried until crispy is often considered a fast-food, but here they’re seen as a proud delicacy of India. Opting for a takeout option, my box of 6 included lemon and chili sauce as well as a lesser spotted, sweet coconut samoosa. Tried and tested as one of the oldest shops in the plaza, the family-run business is an entrenched part of the fabric of the community and the samoosas are good, but if they're not the best let me know where I'm going next.

I’m Nick Hamman, and I’m looking for the best curry in South Africa . This has to be one of the most requested places I’ve received from you guys, and I can certainly tell why. This is Bay Leaf on 57 Mint Road Fordsburg and has for a long time been one of my all-time favorites over the last decade of visiting Fordsburg. Boasting authentic Indian fusion memories, I often go for the mutton curry done hot together with garlic naan. It’s delicious and honesty I have no notes and always get really excited about coming here. I’d highly recommend checking out Bay Leaf for yourself, but if it's not the best curry in South Africa, you need to let me know in the comment s where I’m going next.

If you want to eat what some say is the spiciest chicken in South Africa, you need to come to Al Hamra on 70 Mint Road in Fordsburg. The epitome of not judging a book by its cover the exterior may not be inviting, but stepping inside, I found the restaurant to be clean and the service attentive.

I'm Nick Hamman and I'm looking for the best curry in South Africa and today your comments have sent me to Namak at 9 Grafton Avenue Craighall-park, with another branch in Blairgowrie Johannesburg.

I’m Nick Hamman and I’m on a Culinary Journey Through Mzanzi, One Magic Meal at a Time and today I’m paying tribute to a local classic that calls Durban home, The Bunny at a spot you’d easily miss, Spice Kitchen in Rivonia.

If you want to indulge in the goodness of an authentic Durban Indian chicken breyani, you need to come here to, Chili Bar on the square in Sunninghill. The place has been open for the past 7 months and despite looking simple and understated, the alluring smell of curry cooking in the back kitchen warmly greets you as you walk in
Naivasha Rd Sunninghill Sandton
If you’re looking for some seriously awesome authentic Indian fast food, you should come to the oriental plaza in Fordsburg and pay Harry’s Café a visit. With all the iconic classics you’d expect, their claim to fame is the toasted soya special, together with bunnies, sandwiches, burgers, spring rolls samosas, and more. Where Harry’s stands out to me is with his spicing, with each delicious bite offering more than you’re expecting. I tried the spiced chips, chicken and mince samosas, a toasted soya palony, and a toasted mutton sandwich. All of which I’d highly recommend.

I’m Nick Hamman and I think I might have just found the best authentic Durban Food in Johannesburg in this unassuming strip mall in Strubens Valley at Vaagh, run by South African entrepreneur Aladia Moodley
